Texas Heat
CD Review
By Florinda

Hey anyone out there a country fan well I have a band for you. TEXAS HEAT - I was on the East Coast at a small hick bar and I found a ballad master singer song writer that should have been snatched up long ago and I should be hearing him on the radio instead of just on CD in my car. Scott Bandy is the leader singer of the band which is made up of four guys Scott on the acoustic guitar, and ladies reading this let me tell you he is easy on the eyes and when this sweet even toned voice comes out of that mouth you’re hooked, Tommy Alderson, one of the most sought after musicians on the East Coast because of his unique sound and versatile arraign of styles, John the bass player and the drummer is named Dave. They all add their unique skills to the melody that illuminates the place with awe-inspiring vocals. Scott Bandy has 3 CDs to his credit so far and they are really high-quality, he has been writing since a major tragedy happened to his family. Mostly he would write about other people’s lives and there trails but when he puts pen to paper about his own life the words scream at you from a place of sincerity and genuineness that I haven’t heard in a
long time. This East Coast band needs some West Coast lovin’. His songs will make you think and feel things you haven’t felt, didn’t want to in a feel and can’t forget which were brought back to the surface. A song can bring back memories of love lost and hearts broken or just a ray of hope you thought didn’t exist anymore. Well Scott’s lyrics can do all of these. The songs all have relatable lyrics and some that are a play on words that we have all thought about “hey that would be a good song title” and was made into one. With songs like “I know you’re lying Your Lips are Movin”, “The Devil in Her Eyes” and “The Outlaw rides again” one of my favorites is “Hell Ain’t No Place for an Angel” the voice on this man can melt butter with the intensity of any country singer out there he can hold his own with the greats such as George Strait and Hank Williams and even the sultry voice of Doug Stone. The lyrics are from the heart and his stories are true. Any singer song writer knows that a good song will come around when you least expect it, the one song that sold me was “Play Wino Play” he met this guy on the street and he could play his guitar and sing songs from the heart and just because someone is down on his luck doesn’t mean they don’t have something to offer if you just give them a chance to share their story. A tale about a street corner musician and the understanding between the two blues singers as they shared stories of a lost love and the melancholy thoughts brought on because of a song. The song “Sure Could Use Some Lovin” … well we all could use this on a daily basis but this song is about a lover you love but can’t stand to be with and the pain and heart ache that goes with those types of relationships. He has songs about the father’s not liking who their daughters are dating and much more. “It’s Over Now” or “When Love Hits Ya” these are reminiscent song of the past when things were good and before the relationship went awry. His ballads are some of his better storytelling and it makes me want to find someone to cuddle up to and show them the lovin’ I haven’t in a long time. This band needs to be brought out here and let the West Coast get a taste of some back east southern country singing.
