Sound of the Blue Heart :: Wind of Change
Hollows Hill Sound Recordings
By T. Silverman
Sound of the Blue Heart’s new release, "Wind of Change," offers gripping, dark and often inspiring tracks. The songs on “Wind of Change” actively force the listener to regard the insightful lyrics and intertwined music and question his or her own human condition.
“The Arms of Yesterday” begins rather slowly in a mist of lyrics and instruments, Johnny singing:
“It’s getting hard these days to see it clear
Everything I knew has disappeared.”
It then transforms into a flowing chorus, combining guitarists Gregg Burns and Time Grove, bassist Michael Mallory, drummer Rob Cournoyer and Keyboard player/Backup Vocalist Rebecca Bolam. “The Poisoning” begins with a gothic, new wave direction, then moves into a triumphant and vocal duo. Johnny’s voice lingers through his emotional narrative, guiding through his tale of dark episodes.
