Bonnaroo Music Festival 2009

Well known as one of the best run parties on the planet, the 2009 Bonnaroo Music Festival was once again a huge success! The eighth annual festival offered a delectable and diverse array of top-notch Bonnaroo Music Festival 2009performances. AC Entertainment and Superfly Presents showed their strength by smoothly managing a ten ring circus.

Country rocker Charlie Allen and his band started off the festival right at That Tent. Charlie’s friends Manchester Tennessee Mayor Betty Superstein and Police Chief Ross Simmons took to dancing on stage with the band at one point. Their song, “Bonnaroo” was both rockin and the lyrics described the festival well. Early on Friday and Saturday, What Stage (main) was transformed in a punky Reggae Party. With the three original lead members back together for the first time in awhile, The Itals drew a large crowd that kept growing Bonnaroo Music Festival 2009during the show. Saturday, the Wailing Souls shared their best spirit. It did seem both world class Reggae bands were less affected by the heat being used to Jamaican weather. What Stage continued on Friday with a funky set by Galactic with guests Trombone Shorty and Corey Henry. Next, Al Green brought poured his heart out to a packed crowd as he threw roses to lucky ladies in the audience. The Beastie Boys were fully pumped and brought out Nas to introduce the crowd a new fat track called Too Many Rappers off their upcoming album “Hot Sauce Committee”. Taking performing to a very high level, David Byrne put on a skillfully Bonnaroo Music Festival 2009choreographed performance, combining music, dance and lighting to great effects. The talented troupe performed various acrobatic and musical maneuvers. Phish closed down main stage on Friday and Sunday night. Bruce Springsteen’s surprise appearance with Phish to cover Sir Mack Rice’s blues classic Mustang Sally and Springsteen’s own Glory Days had almost everyone dancing and singing along. Public Enemy brought out Flava Flav. Holding nothing back, Flav was all over the stage with sweat spraying like rain. The impressive show included many powerful songs including Shut Em Down and Fight the Power. Nine Inch Nails performed I’m Afraid of Americans to a packed crowd before announcing that they just Bonnaroo Music Festival 2009realized this would be their last show in the U.S.. The Giraffes put on a wicked show at the Troo Music Lounge at midnight on Saturday. The heavy rock band blazed into night keeping their on stage “rantics” below an X rating. Moe performed two shows and had killer light shows. Moe gave the crowd a run for their money at This Tent—performing till 6:30 in the morning. Sunday kept the Nikhil Korula Band busy performing shows with different sets at both the Troo Music Lounge and they closed down Sonic Stage as a fiery low sun brightly illuminated the band. The groove that Nikhil shared with the crowd redirected passersby to come enjoy the show.

All and all, the 2009 Bonnaroo Music Festival was a unique lifetime experience for most who attended not to be forgotten.
