JSS :: Beautiful Mess
Frontier Records
By The Atomic Chaser
I could easily just write the word "Awesome" and explain this cd thoroughly, but it deserves way more praise than that. I must say that 'Beautiful Mess' is the album where JSS aka Jeff Scott Soto lays everything on the line and opens his full arsenal of music brilliance. Every single song on this album really felt like he was singing from his heart, like the lyrics have heart and soul loaded meaning rather than just sounding good. From the rocking soul of "21st Century" to the sultry "Gin & Tonic Sky" to the greasy funk of "Bring It Home" to the Beatle-esque "Kick It", JSS leaves no stone unturned in this release, pleasing fans old & new alike. Not only are the lyrics good, but also the music is just as good if not better! If every song were an instrumental, you the listener would definitely enjoy it just as much. The new album was co-written & produced by the savvy Swedish artist/producer/writer Paulo Mendonça, is a turning point for JSS who recently dubbed by many as the 'new hardest working man in show business'. I really do think JSS will pleases all of his fans with his latest effort... while making some new!. All around, I really enjoyed it... and if you are a JSS fan in the past and are debating whether you should take a chance on 'Beautiful Mess'... let me make your decision easier for you, get the album you will love it, enough said. You'll thank me later. If you like the bite of Lenny Kravitz, the sultriness of Seal, the smoothness of Sam Cooke & the rawness of the nostalgic 70's rock 'n soul all mixed with a contemporary touch of today's hit music, this is one not to be missed!! 'Beautiful Mess' is a very good album that will reach not only Jeff Scott Soto fans, but new ones as well. It packed with great variety and is guaranteed to rock and roll your soul.
Give it a try, His talent is truly represented here in an awe inspiring set. Good stuff that comes highly recommended.
