The 2006 All Access Magazine Music Awards Show
Part One
By Debra Stocker
November 4th, 2006 will be a date many will remember for a long time, as several groups/artists were recognized for their talent at the Fourth Annual All Access Magazine Music Awards Show!
GreenStock Productions (John Green and Debra Stocker) was responsible for making this star-studded event a huge success, along with proud sponsors SAM ASH MUSIC STORES, TAYE DRUMS, MINARIK GUITARS, ONLINEGIGS.COM, CD BABY, STYLUS WRITING AND EDITING, MUSIC HIGHWAY, MIKE CAVANAUGH PHOTOGRAPHY, SABAIN CYMBALS, FREEDOM STUDIO, NEW ARTISTS ONLINE, MANRIQUE PHOTOS, TROPICAL MEDIA, PIRANHA MUSIC, NOCTURNAL MOVEMENTS, WARWICK AMPS and of course ALL ACCESS MAGAZINE. Everyone worked together to pack Hollywood’s hotspot destination for alternative, cutting-edge, new music and events, the KNITTING FACTORY.
Yes indeed, the 2006 AAM Music Awards Show was packed, with fans, rock stars, special guests and celebrities everywhere. But the incredible sound you heard all night came from our newest sponsors, WARWICK AMPS, who supplied our back line and kept the night running smoothly and sounding great! Thanks,
Warwick for helping us pull off yet another successful Music Awards Show.
The doors opened at 6 p.m. and the night’s entertainment started right at 7 p.m. with Stu Simone’s HAIR GUITAR AND FRIENDS. The entertaining and refreshing authentic tribute to hair bands was everything Stu had promised, performing covers from POISON, GREAT WHITE, RATT and more. Hair Guitar features Sean McNabb (QUIET RIOT, DOKKEN, GREAT WHITE) on bass, vocals by our Music Awards hostess Sheena Metal, and Vicky a.k.a. Rockin’ Queen (July 2006’s Miss AAM), the hair spray girl. Unfortunately, a mysterious problem with a power supply to Stu’s keyboard left a Great White song out of the planned set list…but hey, that’s why they call it rock-n-roll!
The Music Awards Show was hosted by journalist, radio host, indie film character actress, headlining standup comic and New York stage actress SHEENA METAL,
“Queen of the Nighttime World,” and special guest Stu Simone, founder of KEYTAR and TREK RECORDS, and a multi-talented musician as well (keyboards, vocals and guitar). Both are clearly NOT strangers to Hollywood’s music scene! Sheena and Stu did a great job keeping everything running smoothly, and were funny and entertaining all night long.
AAM’s Annual Music Awards brought out rockers, actresses, media and even a few record scouts to check out the acts. Thanks, scouts! Please let us know if you saw something you liked: We’ll be more than happy to provide you with contact info.
Awards were handed out by several special guest presenters, including SEAN McNABB (Rocker) and CHRISTINE DEVINE (The News Girl), AUDIE DESBROW (GREAT WHITE), TERRY ILLOUS (XYZ), RUDY SARZO (QUIET RIOT, OZZY OSBOURNE, WHITSNAKE, DIO), DAVE PAICH (TOTO), JUAN CROUCIER (RATT), ROBERT SARZO (Hurricane), KEITH EMERSON (Emerson, Lake & Palmer), CARLOS (New Artists Online), DOUG DEUTSCH (Doug Deutsch Publicity Services), JOHN GREEN (GreenStock Productions), the girls of THUNDHERSTRUCK, and AAM staff and writers.
After presenting the first six awards, the night continued with a performance by AUBURN COURT. This band proved once again that girls can ROCK, and rock hard they did!
It was an outstanding performance. Congrats for winning Best Female Drummer – Rock/Melodic/Blues. Thanks for joining us!
Six more awards and a couple drinks later, and our hostess Sheena Metal had everyone rollin’! There were so many great compliments made about Sheena Metal that I don’t even know where to begin. How about this, “Say, Sheena, you up for it again next year?”
And how about JOE WALLA? Now here’s a man AAM has been watching from the start. Just ask John Green about Joe. He’ll be glad to tell you the story of how he discovered Joe Walla performing an acoustic show, all by his lonesome, one night. But that was then…now there is the JOE WALLA BAND and it couldn’t be better! Congrats for winning Best Male Guitarist – Rock/Melodic/Blues. The Joe Walla Band serves up real rock-n-roll just the way you like it. Personally, I’ll take their music anywhere, anyway, anytime I can get it.
JUDGE JACKSON, a band a lot you recognized, I’m sure, was up next and were as tight as ever. Fans welcomed them back to L.A. with open arms. It’s always a pleasure to see these guys perform. AAM fans screamed when they performed and cheered when they heard, “The award for Best Rock Group/Artist goes to Judge Jackson!” The Judge has spent most of 2006 on the
road performing everything from acoustic TV shows to radio shows to huge motorcycle events and most recently the Havasu Rockfest 2006. They have written and recorded hit songs now being played on the radio. Their song “King,” revised into “King - I Am the Man” with new lyrics added, can be heard only on The Speed Channel’s series “NASCAR Victory Lane.” AAM and a lot of your fans have our eyes on you, Judge Jackson. Can’t wait for that new album to be released!
On with the show: All the way from Las Vegas, please welcome JAK PARIS, along with supporting cast and a young lady some of you “Reba” fans may recognize, SCARLETT POMERS. Our People’s Choice Award winners performed a powerful set that included their remake of Fleetwood Mac’s hit song “The Chain,” which Jak and Scarlett recorded for their CD “Project Chains.”
How about SEVEN STITCHES, weren’t they fantastic? I hope a lot of you got to check them out. Congratulations on victories for Best Female Vocalist – Metal/Hard Rock, Best Hard Rock Group/Artist, and Song of the Year, Seven Stitches! AAM will be watching you, and readers know they will be hearing more about this band very soon.
3FACED: Yes, this is the band that opened for Bon Jovi at the Staples Center last summer, and now you know why. They are one kick-ass band! AAM will have their eye on 3Faced too a
s their CD is nearly completed. Hmmm, any chance of getting one of those CDs in my Christmas stocking? Congrats, 3Faced, on winning Best Bassist – Pop/Alternative, and Best Alternative Group/Artist. We’re looking forward to working with you again real soon!
As for HYPNOGAJA, I know everyone has a favorite band. Some like a little soft rock, some a little hard rock, and some just want to rock! Hypnogaja is that band: They have it ALL! Their performance is definitely that of a first-rate modern rock band. AAM has had this band on the radar for a while now. We have watched them grow through hard work and determination, delivering songs with passion and incredible musicianship. With four albums behind them, this national touring act is a must-see! Congrats, Hypnogaja, on winning Best Male Vocalist – Pop/Alternative and Best Album of 2006, and thanks for performing at the 2006 AAM Music Awards Show. Don’t think for one minute we’re done watching you!
MY EVOLUTION (ME) is another band making a BIG buzz here in Hollywood
these days, and their incredible high-energy live show explains why. Yes, the future is bright for ME, very bright, and AAM was honored to have you headline our show! Congrats on winning Best Live Performance Group/Artist and Album of the Year – Pop/Alternative. We’ll be seeing you again soon.
Those of you who regularly attend the AAM Music Awards Show, or are JUDGE JACKSON fans, might know this next multi-talented musician, AAM’s Business Consultant and good friend J.J. GARCIA. Despite working as hard as ever and currently touring the U.S. drumming with JUDGE JACKSON, J.J. still found time to help us out at our Music Awards. Thank you, thank you, thank you, J.J., for your help backstage, with the back line, the bands, the soundman; all of it. AAM would be lost without your valuable assistance!
Congratulations to AAM’s Miss September, DENISE AMES, our reader’s choice for Miss All Access Magazine 2006!
Thank you again to all of our sponsors, our host the KNITTING FACTORY, our special guests, and YOU, our most valuable readers! Extra BIG thanks to SHEENA METAL, STU SIMONE, MANRIQUE
PHOTOS, MIKE CAVANAUGH PHOTOGRAPHY and FLORINDA STRIMEL for making 2006’s Music Awards Show another event everyone will be talking about until our Fifth Annual Music Awards Show next year...
