Benefit Concert for David Ewart
March 11th, 2006

By Clio

Dave EwartTragedy struck Santa Clarita violinist David Ewart, 48, his 15-year-old son Michael, his 81-year-old father Hugh (also a violinist), and other family members just before Christmas 2005 when the Ewart residence was completely destroyed by fire. David, Michael, and Hugh were severely burned in many places, including their hands, and have been undergoing multiple surgeries these past 2 months. In addition to the physical pain, the family lost everything, including precious photos, music memorabilia, and violins.

David Ewart played first violin with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, and has been a session musician on over 800 recordings for artists such as Neil Diamond, Elton John, Madonna, and Elvis Costello. He also performed on the soundtracks for “Spider-Man 2” and “Million Dollar Baby.” Hugh Ewart is Concertmaster Emeritus of the Portland Symphony.

A series of benefits have been arranged to help the family rebuild their lives. Santa Clarita musician/songwriter Vince Falzone, who has released 7 CDs and stars in SCVTV’s “Guitar Playing and Studio Recording with Vince Falzone,” will perform a CD Release Benefit Concert with full band at The Canyon Theatre Guild, 24242 San Fernando Road in Newhall, on Saturday, March 11. 50% of proceeds and 100% of donations go directly to the David Ewart Catastrophe Fund. Tickets are $12 each and include food, drinks, and a raffle. All ages welcome: Bring the kids out to rock-n-roll for a good cause!

For reservations, tickets, and other information, contact The Canyon Theatre Guild at 661-799-2700, CanyonTheatre.org
