Dave Schulz (Goo Goo Dolls, English Beat/General Public, The Rembrandts, Glenn Hughes, Fastball, and Bo Diddley) celebrated his birthday in high style by giving an outstanding performance to a packed house at Backstage Café in Beverly Hills. Dave Schulz’s solo career has taken off as he has been fortunate in his new position as Musical Director for ONYX at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada in which he also performs his amazing solo artist material in his multi-night weekly residency that has lead him to taking up dual residencies in Los Angeles and Las Vegas. To further celebrate Schulz’s birthday, Punkin Pie organized the “Pink-a-Boos” burlesque dancers that included Nikki, everyone’s favorite Backstage waitress. Next Dave Schulz took the stage with his sensational deep passionate vocals accompanied by his legendary keyboard technique performing with his popular party 70’s cover band Astroglyde.
The party went on into the wee hours of the night that included several special guest artists. Performing with Dave Schulz was Steve de Marchi, his business partner of the past twelve years and a talented musician in his own right. Schulz and de Marchi are busy with their upscale recording studio C.O. Productions and producing when they’re not performing. Will Luke who has won awards on the local scene joined the birthday boy on stage, and Ace (the Fonque Shoppe) dropped in to sing along with Joe Andrioccio (Bret Michaels Band) joining the party. The dancers weren’t the only talented ladies performing; Katja Reickermann (Rod Stewart) came along and shined with her saxophone. Lindsay Vannoy (Elton John, Alice Cooper) enhanced the birthday celebration by joining Schulz in keyboards. Dave Goodstein (Joe Firstman, Ivan Neville) celebrated Schulz’s birthday playing drums and Dave Filice (The Rembrandts, Reeves Gabrels) joined the party on bass along with Clark Souter (Kristine W., Mia Sharp, John Waite, and Kimberly Locke from American Idol) also playing bass. The party wasn’t without talented guitarists which starred Balage (The Fizzies), Kevin Williams (English Beat, Bonedaddies), and Matt Gruber (Engineer for Leanne Rhimes, Osbournes).
Dave Schulz’s party was an event to remember. Thanks to Pie and Backstage Café for hosting the event; fun was had by all, and thanks to Ricci Rocks for coming by with friends to party and take photos. Happy Birthday Dave Schulz, and thanks for inviting All Access Magazine out to celebrate with you in style!
