STANDBY RECORDS SIGNS VIRGINIA METAL OUTFIT, IN ALCATRAZ 1962 Debut full-length out this spring CLEVELAND, OH – Cleveland-based independent record label, Standby Records, is excited to announce a new addition to the Standby family, Northern Virginia’s metal/hardcore outfit, In Alcatraz 1962. Standby and In Alcatraz 1962 will team up to release the band’s debut record this spring.

“We are very excited to release our debut album with such a dedicated and committed label,” said In Alcatraz 1962 drummer, Josh Zupovitz. “We know they will treat us not only as another band, but as a family member. We look forward to collaborating with Standby Records and are ready to share our music with each and every one of you.” Commented Standby owner, Neil Sheehan, “As we develop a rebooted version of Rock N’ Roll at Standby Records, we continue to discover new acts that are rich in attitude and powered by modern day angst. Much like the rage that flowed through this band’s namesake island throughout the 20th Century, In Alcatraz 1962′s musical rage hits with more force than any group of murderers, rapists and criminals could ever deliver. We couldn’t be happier to share their power.” In Alcatraz 1962 will enter Cleveland’s Studio D Productions with producer, Don Debiase (Modern Day Escape, Beneath The Sky, For All Those Sleeping), in early February to begin recording the debut album. Stay tuned to the official In Alcatraz 1962 Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/inalcatraz1962 and the all-new Standby Records website: http://www.StandbyRecords.net for more information on In Alcatraz 1962.
About In Alcatraz 1962…
Formed in 2005 in Northern Virginia by drummer Josh Zupovitz, In Alcatraz 1962 started out as an after school hang out playing cover songs, and quickly turned into a project that would grow in originality and respect. Starting as a band that were opening shows where no one was in attendance and playing in front of empty rooms, they worked hard at self-promoting their name and their sound and quickly gained a large following to playing in front of sold out venues with crowds itching to see their powerful and memorable live performance.
About Standby Records…
Formed in 2007, Standby Records has made its name developing passionate, young artists by providing unparalleled enthusiasm and a DIY attitude. Standby Records is ready to act as the proud birthplace of “Rock N’ Roll 2.0,” the evolution of the genre. A new age of youth has emerged, and like its parents who exhibited their rebellious nature through music, this new breed has developed its own sound, look and attitude. Standby Records is there not only to embrace it, but to spread it to the masses.

Rip Cat Records announces the signing of two iconic Southern California-based music
artists, The Blasters and K.K. Martin.

The Blasters formed in Downey, California back in 1979 and, along with X, Black Flag, Red Hot
Chili Peppers and others, have been an integral part of the SoCal
underground/indie-rock scene since their formation. Led by brothers Phil and
Dave Alvin, the group originally signed
to much-loved indie label Slash Records in 1981 and were known as much for their
grueling touring schedule as their unique country-punk sound. Among the noted musicians that have
performed as members of the Blasters through the years: the dynamic saxophone
duo of Steve Berlin and Lee Allen; bassist John Bazz; the late Hollywood Fats
(a/k/a Michael Mann) and X’s Billy Zoom, Greg “Smoky” Hormel, James Intveld, and
current guitarist, Keith Wyatt; and drummers Billy Bateman, David Carrol and
current member, Jerry Angel. The Blasters were featured in the popular 1984 film
Streets Of Fire and placed two songs in the sound track, “One Bad Stud”
and “Blue Shadows.” The Blasters are currently in the studio recording a new
album for Rip Cat.
K.K. Martin was a founding member, lead guitarist, singer and songwriter for 80′s-era band A
La Carte. The group gained considerable renown as one of the most in-demand
groups on the then-vibrant Sunset Strip music scene. Exposed in the womb to the
music of Jimmie Rodgers. Robert Johnson and Hank Williams, he began touring with
his parents at age 10. K.K. was transplanted to California in 1969 and cut his
teeth on the local L.A. rock scene at age 16, landing a brief stint with the
Albert Collins backup band. Martin has performed with a Who’s-Who in the music
business including Eric Burdon, Booker T, Rick Derringer, Johnny Winters,
Blondie, and currently, Lester Chambers of famed R&B/Soul group The Chambers
Brothers. K.K. was a recipient of “Outstanding Blues Artist” at the 9th Annual
Los Angeles Music Awards in 1999. In the last decade, Louisiana native Martin
has reconnected with his Blues roots. He toured with Lester Chambers of the 60′s
Chambers Brothers fame, recording a project with Lester called “Blues for Sale.”
Martin has continued to play extensively throughout L.A. and Orange County as a
solo act as well as with the band Roadside Revelers. His latest CD is “Naked
Blues Vol. II,” which will be re-released by Rip Cat.
Orange County-based Rip Cat Records is one of the quickest-growing independent labels
in Southern California, with a solid artist roster that includes guitarist Barry
Levenson; The 44′s, vocalist Lisa Cee; Johnny Mastro and Mamma’s Boys; Whiteboy
James & The Blues Express; John Marx; Little Barry G; The Mighty Mojo
Prophets; and Gino Mateo.www.ripcatrecords.com www.kkmartin.com www.blastersnewsletter.com

Coming from the same fledgling psychedelic San Francisco scene that produced the Grateful Dead, Quicksilver Messenger Service and the Jefferson Airplane, BB&THC was formed in 1965 by Sam Andrew, Pete Albin, James Gurley and Chuck Jones. Their first gig was in 1966 at the Open Theater in Berkeley, Calif.; the real “Big Brother” (the person who gave the group its name) was Chet Helms – who had an old friend that joined the band, and went by the name of…Janis Joplin. After releasing 1968′s chart-topping album “Cheap Thrills,” Big Brother (later joined by drummer David Getz, who replaced Jones) experienced a brief parting-of-the-ways and then reunited. BB&THC have for the most part been performing throughout the world ever since, pioneering a musical style that co-founder Andrew creatively labeled “progressive-regressive hurricane blues.” No doubt the NCBF crowd on Friday night will be singing en masse along to their numerous classics including “Down On Me,” “Coo Coo,” “Ball And Chain” and many more. www.bbhc.com.

(New York, NY) — On the eve of Sixx:A.M.’s album release of THIS IS GONNA HURT (On sale today via Eleven Seven Music), bassist Nikki Sixx was busy signing thousands of his New York Times bestselling companion book which debuted at #4, “This is Gonna Hurt: Photography and Life Through the Distorted Lens of Nikki Sixx” (HarperCollins/William Morrow) at Bookends in Ridgewood, New Jersey.

“After hosting more than 800 authors over the past 10-years here at Bookends including Hillary Clinton and Lance Armstrong (and numerous other high profile people), we were astounded that Nikki Sixx delivered one of our biggest and most successful signings ever,” said Pat Boyer, co-owner of Bookends.

“What made it even more special was the dedication of Nikki’s fans, who started lining up at eight in the morning and kept him here till midnight. People traveled from as far away as Europe and Canada, New England and the Midwest. I’ve never seen an author so committed to making a personal connection with each of the more than 2,000 fans that showed up.”

Currently in the midst of a national CD and book-signing tour on behalf of, “This is Gonna Hurt” (dates follow below), Sixx continues to attract record-breaking crowds, selling out books and CDs and averaging three to four hours of autographing books and CDs at each event.

Sixx:A.M. is the rock band formed in 2007 by Nikki Sixx, Dj Ashba and James Michael. Their debut album, The Heroin Diaries Soundtrack, sold over 300,000 copies, and the single, “Life Is Beautiful,” became radio’s most-played rock song of 2008. The band’s second album, released today, has already produced a Top 5 radio smash with the first single “Lies of the Beautiful People.”

In closing, Sixx said, “It’s been a game changer to see kids at the signings crying and their parents saying thank you. They’ve told me the book has had a positive influence on their lives. It inspires me every day to get up and do better.”

The unabridged downloadable audio book of “This Is Gonna Hurt: Photography And Life Through The Distorted Lens Of Nikki Sixx” read by the author will also be released today. It is available at audible.com, iTunes and wherever digital audio books are sold.

Feisty Piranhas 2010 Wrap Up

The Feisty Piranhas are changing the face of punk music and ready to take 2011 by storm with a new album, famous headliners, new venues and much more as they wrap up 2010 with multiple award wins and headlining concerts.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Feisty (adj.) – having or showing a lively aggressiveness; spunky

There’s no misnomer here, as the Feisty Piranhas live up to their name in the music, stage presence, and personality. A pop punk, rock, and reggae band hailing from Ventura County, California, The Feisty Piranhas bring a vivacious and spunky energy to the music scene, both on stage and off.

Started by father/son drummer and guitarist duo Peter Lust, Jr. and Peter Alex Lust III in 2002, the band has made quite a splash, winning numerous recognitions and awards – most recently achieving two wins at the 20th Annual (2010) Los Angeles Music Awards taking home “Producer’s Choice: Best Live Album” as well as “Best Rock Drummer of the Year” awarded to Peter Lust Jr. With the addition of two new members Ned Gardner and Dave Fox on bass and guitar, the Feisty Piranhas are primed for taking their band to the next level.

This high?energy band brings a hard, loud, and fast sound to the stage, favorably compared to groups as diverse as Green Day and NOFX, to Rush and even Pink Floyd. It is no wonder, then, that just this year, the Feisty Piranhas have been invited to play at world renowned venues like the Key Club, the Whisky a Go Go, the Viper Room and even Six Flags Magic Mountain. They regularly open for big name acts like Death By Stereo and punk stalwarts FEAR and Y&T, as well as seminal longtime rockers Blue Oyster Cult, Lynch Mob and The Tubes.

At the top of their game and ready to rock, the Feisty Piranhas are eager to spread their music to a larger audience, starting with the release of their new album in early 2011 (currently in production).

So, the question is… Are you ready to get Feisty?

One of the most promising and critically acclaimed US metal bands, Age of Evil, is gearing up to headline one of Los Angeles’ most popular venues, The Viper Room, on Saturday, April 10th at 7pm. The Scottsdale, Arizona-based group is comprised of a double pair of brothers – singer/rhythm guitarist Jeremy Goldberg, guitarist Jordan Ziff, bassist Jacob Goldberg, and drummer Garrett Ziff – and is still flying high from the release of their debut EP, ‘Get Dead,’ which has created quite a buzz throughout the metal community.
“I love playing LA, because of the vibe I get,” says Garrett. “You’ve got the rockers, the metalheads, and all the hot girls getting together for a great time!” Jacob agrees with Garrett’s assessment – “Looking forward to playing in such an iconic place.” And lastly, Jordan adds, “It beats Arizona!”
Recently, the Sea of Tranquility website praised the band, saying “If this kind of talent keeps popping up and staying true to the metal way, then I think that the genre is in excellent hands.” Additional accolades have been bestowed upon the group from Andy Secher, editor for Hit Parader Magazine, who says, “Thanks to young Arizona rockers Age of Evil, the sounds of vintage metal are alive and well as we kick off the second decade of the 21st Century.” Add to it Revolver Magazine picking Age of Evil as a ‘Band to Watch” in 2010 and ‘Get Dead’ recently deemed a “New & Noteworthy Release” for four weeks straight on iTunes, and you have one of metal’s fastest rising acts.
Undoubtedly, the upcoming Viper Room performances will only further cement Age of Evil’s standing as one of metal’s brightest hopes.
Where: The Viper Room When: Saturday, April 10th Time: 7 P.M
