Judas Priest at Nokia Live

With their 17th studio album Redeemer of Souls, Judas Priest performed to a near sellout of head bangers of various ages at Los Angeles’s Nokia Live on November 10. Though some of the fans favorite songs and anthems were not performed others of the seventeen songs including four encore, were songs from the new album. The show started with intro of Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs” and “Battle Cry” to first song: “Dragonaut” ,” Metal Gods” , “Devil’s Child” “Victim of Changes”, “Love Bites”, “Jaw Breaker”. From the new album they performed: “Halls of Valhalla”,

March of the Damned” and” Redeemer of Souls”. The audience sang “Breaking the Law” and “Living After Midnight”. There was no pyrotechnics just lighted flames balloons be blown by air with some smoke clouds and large LCD screen behind the drums with various images.

Rob’s vocals and screams are still strong though having recent back surgery he still is the” Metal God”. Richie and Glenn dual guitar playing is tight with Scott drumming and Ian’s bass pounding beats. When the show is ending before the encore you hear the Harley Davidson motor cycle for “Hell Bent for Leather”. The encore songs are: “You’ve Got Another Thing Comin’, “Living After Midnight”, “Defenders of the Faith” and Beginning of the End (partial). The energy of Priest’s music and influence for metal generations has been and will be for the current, new and generation beyond.

Opening the show was Los Angeles band Steel Panther that gave a energetic show of sexual content music.
